General

As already mentioned, Carodur® is a beryllium-free alloy on a CuNiSi basis, not harmful to the environment and suitable for thermosetting.

We have to distinguish between the following standard alloys:

CARODUR® 1 for slide bearings

CARODUR® 2 for screws, clips, pins

CARODUR® DC for plungers

Characteristic features

CARODUR® -alloys are characterized by their outstanding cold and hot forming ductility, excellent corrosion resistance and resistance to atmospheric corrosion as well as their indifference to stress corrosion cracking. Due to the cold forming the material is strengthened and this process – combined with a thermosetting – supplies the alloy with following characteristics:

  • high strength and hardness

  • excellent electrical conductivity

  • high wear resistance

  • good thermal conductibility

  • high fatigue strength

Especially the possibility of performing a thermosetting in any phase of the production process, explains the growing importance of this alloy.

Models

CARODUR® -alloys can be delivered in the following conditions: solution annealed, solution annealed cold formed, solution annealed solution thermo set and solution annealed cold and thermo set.

Dependent on the requested mechanical properties and dimensional tolerances, semi-finished products can only be delivered in extruded or extruded and drawn condition.

Technical data – Chemical composition (Analysis for guide values)

The chemical composition of the CARODUR® alloys shown in the table fulfils all requests of the European Product Standards (e.g. EN 12163), material number CW109C and CW111E.
Within the standardized limiting values we offer various types of this special alloy that are all well adjusted to the individual application field.

Mechanical properties

The mechanical properties mainly depend on dimension, condition and application field. Therefore the limited values listed in the table cover the whole range. We recommend checking the requested values according to your application.
